2022-10-16 20:32:51 +0000 UTCI agree about the ending. On rewatches I watch the wedding but not the finale. To me the ending is the wedding ans that Ted meets the mother after that and they all lively happily ever after. The finale made no sense for a lot of reasons. It undid so much character buildup for all of them.

2022-10-16 17:36:09 +0000 UTCI agree with everything here - this show was good, a lot of jokes would never fly today though, especially Ted's behavior was atrocious most of the time. But it was an actual great show apart from the series finale.

2022-10-16 06:07:18 +0000 UTCI've watched this show in its entirety ONCE and I miss every single character - except Ted. He's the reason I never rewatched it. Do people genuinely like Ted? That's interesting to me...

2022-10-16 05:58:44 +0000 UTCHappy Birthday, Steven! I am curious, would you wanna react to How I Met Your Father? As a fan of the original HIMYM, I think it would be interesting to watch your commentaries for the new show.

2022-10-16 04:48:45 +0000 UTCThis was one of my fave sitcoms, this episode in particular was the best. My other fave being the Pineapple incident in S1. I agree with everything you said about the end of the show, ruined the story and character development.

2022-10-16 03:59:52 +0000 UTCI'm with you: for a while -- 5 to 7 seasons, let's say -- this was a great sitcom. And it's a shame that the awful ending (and really, the final 2 seasons were mostly not good) casts a pall over the series in retrospect. No fault of Cristin Milioti, who against all likelihood after the long buildup, was PERFECTLY cast as the mother and could have brought it all to a delightful conclusion if they'd let her.But anyway, lots of good stuff earlier; I would say its golden moment was the second season, where one great script (like this one) after another kept coming, often playing tricks on us viewers while playing fair. My own favorite might be "Ted Mosby: Architect" (S2E4), which does exactly that, brilliantly.
