Yes, if you're curious about Cabaret, it might be worthwhile to react to the 1972 movie. It won a bunch of Academy Awards, despite being in competition with The Godfather (which did win Best Picture). The actress who plays Stevie has said that Sally Bowles in Cabaret had always been her dream role, and Season 5 was written with that in mind, to give Stevie a big breakthrough moment onstage with the "Maybe This Time" song.
