This ep over all is so so but that ending with the AFI song playing and him walking by the cells is one of my favorite endings to an episode of any of my favorite tv series. It's up there with s2 ep of Supernatural with the bank and Shapeshifter and at the end they escaped with Renegade by Styx playing.

2022-10-23 05:34:11 +0000 UTCI love that final scene with Lex walking past all of his prisoners, looking totally stoic while that AFI song blasts. It’s one of the enduring images I have of Michael as Lex in the series. To me it’s showing that Lex is pretty much full evil at this point. It’s like the point of no return for him. So cool

2022-10-22 02:45:33 +0000 UTCReally didn’t like the fact that clark called her a messenger and implied that she was some sort of puppet as you’re also doing, it was HER idea. Idk i find that to be really off putting…

2022-10-21 11:35:09 +0000 UTCFor me it’s just that we keep seeing it over and over again in shows and real life. We saw it in Breaking Bad, this show, The Good Wife and so many others. The husband/boyfriend is doing something wrong and the anger is directed at the girlfriend/wife. I’m like, Lana wasn’t even there!! She comes home, hears about it, gets lied to again by her man. She tries to do some good, and gets hate. These women are being lied to and betrayed but the annoyance is still aimed at them. It’s just tiring so I try to defend them

2022-10-21 11:32:45 +0000 UTCMan I was so exited for you to see the last scene of this episode. Its so badass and the song is so fitting! 🔥 Regarding Lana, I really don't think she is that naive or dumb. I honestly believe that she suspects more that we realise about Lex which is also why she gets offended when Clark points it out. I took it more like (I resent that you think I'm a puppet that he can manipulate - I.e. I resent that you think I'm that dumb that I don't realise what he's about). And it's like that because now she feels trapped and has little way out. Also she is actively trying to use the power Lex has to upset the balance of what he does for something good. At this point she is thinking: well I might as well make the best of this situation. Anyway that's my opinion. I will say it again. Lana is so much more interesting this season than ever before. :)

2022-10-21 05:21:23 +0000 UTCI'll grant you this Steven, Lana is in utter denial of Lex, but thats cuz she's coupling with him now and is pregnant by him. She has to be delusional in some cases just like clark was when he used to defend Lex in the past. They just dont want to believe it. But now Contextually speaking Clark in this episode was wrong in one aspect in that convo with Lana because Lex DID NOT manipulate her into doing this, she chose to help those migrants get citizenship completely on her own. When Clark insinuated that Lex tricked her into doing his dirty work he was wrong and we saw it strike a nerve with Lana & that's why we saw such a strong reaction to that. It literally belittled her and insulted her intelligence. Btw the next set of episodes are fire after fire after fire, etc. cant wait

2022-10-21 02:49:09 +0000 UTCI laughed sooo hard I spit the water out of my mouth when Steven said "oh no she's wearing red, she's gone full Republican, RUN". Im even laughing as im typing this. I really loved this episode when it aired and even more now because of its NUANCED take on a pretty decisive political issue. It wasn't agenda pushy on either side of the spectrum and was very balanced, And thats something alot of today's television shows lack. Clark defending Javier was key for me because with Clark, its about justice and what is fair, period point blank at the end of the day. Especially with Javier going through a circumstance clark can relate to all too well, he felt it necessary to be his sole defender in this case (Law, Perception etc. be damned). Things like this is what shaped Superman in my eyes growing up
