I think that this episode really is a cool idea. I mean you can see it 2 ways, either it really is Keiths spirit or it is Lucas' subconscious speaking to him :)

2022-11-06 19:56:18 +0000 UTCNo, it's not far-fetched to say that the things you do for the people around you has some impact, but they were specifically saying without Lucas things would have gone differently and that it was his goodness/impact that caused the ultimate results. I felt the examples they used were really reaching. Lucas visiting Haley in NY, thus making her come back? They already said on the show what the moment was that made her come back. She didn't say Lucas. Lucas deciding to go back into the school to save Peyton, thus preventing her death and preventing Brooke from becoming Goth (interesting also that Lucas didn't directly affect Brooke)? It didn't go down like that. He ended up saving her as a result of Nathan going back into the school. Lucas talking to Nathan on the basketball court about being an asshole to Haley and to give her another chance, thus saving their marriage? Really? Most people agreed with Nathan there that Lucas needed to stay out of their marriage and let them figure it out, which they pretty much did. He basically went to the beach and told her he needed space and they needed to focus on other things. Two epis later he was looking into a divorce. Haley saved her marriage. Lucas had nothing to do with that. I should have been thinking, "look at that that is so true," instead I was side-eyeing the moments they chose, which made the concept questionable in Lucas' case, but not the concept itself. Maybe there were better examples they could have chosen (Idk, can't think of any off the top of my head) and it would have been more meaningful for me.

Like you said it def shows us how much of a positive impact he has on the ppl around him, that goodness thats been “muddied” by some of the writing was why i initially gravitated towards Lucas in the first place

2022-10-24 02:42:58 +0000 UTCI absolutely love this episode. As much as the fandom craps on Luke, I think it is noteworthy that he has had a measurable impact on everyone's lives. Even if he didn't want himself or Nathan to go in the school that day, because they were young and didn't know what they were doing, as soon as he saw the blood, he knew what he had to do. Just because he's more of a reluctant hero doesn't take that away. Lucas has never been a bad person, and his bad dating decisions have somehow muddied that. I'm glad we got this episode because it shows the positive impact he's had on everyone's lives and that no matter one's mistakes and poor choices, the good choices you make DO matter. And with a flawed lead character like Luke, he really is the perfect character to do this with.

2022-10-22 03:40:53 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite episodes, what if episodes are the best. It's unfortunate that Steven doesn't like them. I think I love that we see Peyton and Brooke find their way back to being friends again, even if it can't be like before doesn't mean that it can't be better. We got to see some good emotional moments with Nathan, although my one criticism about Naley is that it's always about the two of them. It would have been nice to see him worried about Lucas or even visit him at least once. Having Mark Schwann make a cameo as Max hits differently when you know how he treated Hilarie Burton doesn't it? I have to say I have never really understood the hate Lucas gets as a character. For me, all of the characters are wonderfully flawed, he is no exception but the dislike he gets seems disproportionate at times. He is the main character, he is more often than not the narrator of the episode. He's probably one of the nicest characters on the show. We get to see a lot of that this season. I personally thought it was nice to have an episode focus on Lucas and his impact on the people he loves, I don't think its farfetched to say that the things you do for the people around you has some impact. The choices you make or don't make can completely change your life and other people's lives too.

2022-10-22 03:32:43 +0000 UTCWhat a dime of an episode. As soon as I saw Keith it was Emotions galore lol. I really like the concept of Keith helping Lucas believe in himself again. It also reiterated why I really liked Lucas's character in the first place by showing us his importance to people around him. But man was I feeling sooooo bad for Peyton. It really hit me this episode how shitty she has it. The scene that gave me that realization was when she was sitting with Brooke under the bridge and her desperate plea for Brookes friendship like they used to be and then Brooke just couldn't accept that request. The face Peyton made of just the smallest glimmer of hope being snuffed out just absolutely heart wrenching stuff. Like that was the saddest shit I've ever seen, the actress nailed it. Peyton legit was crying out for mental and emotional aid with that. Dan being tortured by Keith is still very fascinating, to see big strong impenetrable Dan being whittled down by his conscience is great development, they are doing an awesome job with his character. Nathan's actor also put in a performance as well as he poured his heart out this ep as struggled with his regret for even surviving the bridge incident as he shifted all the blame onto himself understandably so. I kind of love that Keith was the one to show Lucas what happens. I do hope the explanation is logical though in the coming episodes but anyways RIP Kieth the GOAT

I think they would have been perfectly fine without him. He is not the heart of the show. It felt really forced. I liked some parts of this episode, but Lucas as George Bailey was too much. I don't necessarily hate the concept, but it would have been better if it was believable.
