This season is a bit like season one of Buffy. Very cheesy, kind of boring, monster of the week. This show is very Buffy-like in later seasons. It definitely picks up.

I swear the show does get better, and I don't think it's a spoiler to say that obviously, as with every show, the characters have development in all senses as the show goes on. So right now, they're just easing into it with the powers so there's room to grow.

2022-10-30 04:36:02 +0000 UTCLike I said on the first reaction, the music thing might be weird for US but I don't think it actually impacts Steven's reaction since he doesn't notice the difference and I kinda think the HD version is worth letting the music go imo. Also, as with Buffy, the first season is... yeah, definitely not the best quality the show has to offer. I'm so looking forward to season 3. But season 1 has some good episodes the second half of this season is so much better than the first. Same with season 2, and onwards. Pretty much, do not take this show seriously at all right now. It doesn't yet have the balance of drama vs. comedy Buffy has... it's dumb, corny fun that gets better with the quality of storylines as it goes on! It's definitely worth sticking around for, but I wouldn't compare it too much because while the vibes are similar (two supernatural 90s shows etc.) they are two completely different shows. Also the original intro music is soooo much better and i really do not understand why the sequence has changed either. Alyssa Milano WAS third? Or am I tripping?

I can upload them on some online drive or donate to buy the DVDs because trust me the original selection of music was made to fit the scenes perfectly while replacements simply suck.

Don't even look it up, Steven, cuz even knowing who is in the podcast is too spoilery for future seasons, but I mentioned it because they rag on Andy even more than you do. One of them keeps mentioning how stalkery Andy is. I never liked the guy, especially later on, but I never noticed the stalkery tendencies until the podcast. I guess I'm pretty oblivious cuz you caught on to it immediately lol

They all obviously knew the gist of her convo w Andy and were smirking and giving her judgy looks after her phone call. I wouldn't call Piper freezing Chef Moore during her audition recipe personal gain cuz it wasn't intentional. Prue definitely used her power for personal gain though. This show is iffy on that. They throw the words "personal gain" around a lot but then half the things the sisters do could fall under that category. I think, as long as they don't benefit at the expanse of others, like winning a $10mil lotto that could've gone to someone who didn't use visions to win, it wasn't too bad? Their powers all grow, though. Phoebe's power is currently the weakest and I've never been a big fan of it. Piper's power and how it grows and evolves is my ultimate favourite.

Would you maybe consider switching to DVDs or something? I actually have seen a few other reactors and they all have original versions, so it should be out there somewhere.

2022-10-29 06:00:30 +0000 UTCThe authors were creating and writing the show as they go, so the beginning of the season is kinda iffy on the technicalities and the details. They were working out the kinks, so to speak. But, generally, the thing to understand is that their powers do have limitations, of course. Especially, for Phoebe, her power is the hardest to control, it just happens, otherwise, she would just know everything and always. This episode was to establish some of the rules of their magic, like using magic intentionally for personal gain. Also, I don't think Piper is "religious" necessary, she was just freaked out by this documentary about witches and just struggling with the concept that being a witch means they may be evil. I always forget how Andy does come off a bit stockerish at the start of the show, they made him a bit too pushy. I think, the idea was since they rekindling their previous relationship, it was ok for Andy be more persistent than what his character would've been with someone he just met, I guess? Anyway, just trying to say that early episodes are a bit messy, thats all.
