I'm not big on Legends. The first season was good, but it slowly started dropping in quality after. It's the cast changes that bother me. I don't think saying that is a spoiler. You're 100% right about Supergirl. The first three seasons are pretty fun imo. I enjoyed the fact that it was a little lighter than some of the other Arrowverse shows. However, the changes they started to make in season four and beyond really lost me. It felt like they really changed direction entirely. I think a lot of the fandom felt that way judging by the viewing numbers. I never understood why they made unpopular decisions and continued to do so. However, I will say...seasons 1-3 of Supergirl are worth watching.

This is why we all would tell David to react to the other shows, so once the crossovers come up there isn’t any confusion (and they are just good shows) but it didn’t seem like he was super intrigued by them. This is the first of many crossovers, and the one you will have the least confusion over, so if your planning to start to watch the other shows you should definitely start before we get to that point.

I liked the first 3 seasons of Supergirl and some things in season 4 but after season 3 it started getting frustrating for me. I love the cast and characters but some of the storylines and writers choices were really frustrating and I started liking the show less and less, although I watched it all the way to the end. I was surprised you didn't recognize Lyla, Diggle's wife she was first introduced to Arrow in season 1, also Martin Stein(Firestorm) was in a decent number of Flash episodes starting in season 1.

It just tried way too hard to be "quirky" for me, and seemed to constantly forget they had actual superheroes on their team. It's a shame how much they wasted the Atom in particular. I agree with most of what you said here (except I preferred S4 of Supergirl over ANY season of Arrow - I could just never take Arrow as seriously as it clearly wanted to be taken), especially about Superman & Lois. I think that show is the peak of what the Arrowverse is capable of, both in terms of storytelling and production values. And as the Arrowverse appears to be dying off...at least they saved the best for last! Really hope Steven will watch that one eventually. I think it would be cool to see him do it while he's still watching Smallville - watching a "Superman in the making" and a veteran "he's been doing this FOREVER" Supes side by side every week, lol.

2022-05-18 05:55:02 +0000 UTCThere are people who really love Legends, I am absolutely not one of them. As they don't take the situations they are in seriously. Its presented very much (for the most part there are a few exceptions) more for the fun of the experience. And with every moment being something that should be a flashpoint like event the fact that they rarely treat it as seriously as it merits, just ruins the show for me. Now I don't mind silly, I don't mind campy, and I don't mind a show, but its needs to fit the premise of the show and the universe its set in. Premise is fine, but the universe its in is supposed to treat the ramifications of time travel seriously. Now most of the Arrowverse, falls apart. Flash and Arrow have several really strong seasons but when they go off the rails they go off the rails. Supergirl, generally never had as strong of a season as teh very best season of Arrow or Flash, and it also goes off the rails. Legends is just off the rails all the time (but again many really, really enjoy that aspect of it, just not me). Black Lightning is actually really solid (more or less) but has almost no connection to the Arrowverse (a sliver). Batwoman starts when the production quality of these shows have already decreased dramatically, and behind the scenes events didn't help it (Though it did improve). The only show that has absolutely exceeded my expectations, both in acting, production, and writing has been Superman & Lois. It's clearly made with more money per episode, they have a smaller episode count so less filler, almost all character interactions makes rational and emotional sense for the characters ,making them. It's simply superior (so far) to even the best of the other shows. But even saying that, we have only had 1 and 2/3rd seasons so far, so 3 years down the road? Who knows that might also became a pale imitation of what it started out as. And its connection has been minimal to the arrowverse (though more than Black Lightning). I am never going to enjoy Hogan's Heroes as its set in a Germany World War II prisoner of war camp. And just play it for laughs.

2022-05-18 05:27:35 +0000 UTCDon't worry, the Supergirl episode wasn't really an official part of this crossover, hence why that episode wasn't called "Invasion" like it was for the other shows (it was called "Medusa"). They basically just teased this crossover with a scene at the end, which was the one where Barry and Cisco show up in her apartment (and had hints of Barry's portal showing up at various points throughout her episode, which is what she was talking about when they first showed up and was like, "I KNEW it was you!"). It was otherwise unrelated, so you didn't miss anything important by not watching it and would mostly have just been confused by it since the main plot was still entirely focused on the arc that was happening on SG at the time. This was the true first installment of the crossover. I have mixed feelings on these crossovers in general as the writing in them is usually worse than it ever was on any of the solo shows and you often really have to throw any sense of logic and character development out the window and just turn your brain completely off to enjoy....but it's fun to see the characters interact, nonetheless.
