Lorelai wasn't being weird. She had just gotten out of a relationship where everything to do with her partner's kid was off limits to her. She even said it in the beginning when Chris shared Sherri's letter and she was surprised that he wanted her to know immediately instead of hiding it. She had valid concerns about sending a toddler with a nanny to a foreign country to see a parent who DID abandon her years ago. Anything could happen. And even if nothing did, Gigi would probably be scared out of her mind suddenly not having Chris around. But Lorelai held her tongue because Luke didn't want her input with April at all and she was scared it's the same deal. Chris reacting defensively was very on brand. He's defensive anytime he thinks someone is criticising him. He jumps to conclusions way too fast. Also, as for Rory, I'd be the same way. We only have 6 hours or less and we're spending it at a work dinner? And it's not about trust but I'd be entitled to a LITTLE insecurity about the hot leggy intelligent blonde that's the only woman in the group and being praised by all the guys for her amazing standing skills...

2022-11-10 17:56:05 +0000 UTCI personally didn't think sending Gigi over with the nanny was a bad idea, until I remembered how easily things can go wrong. By that, I mean custody, kidnapping... it's a whole legal issue in my head. That would be scary. Kelly Rutherford (Lily from Gossip Girl) had/has a very long, public custody battle with her ex-husband who lived overseas. Not the case here, I realize this, but it reminded me of that specific danger.

2022-05-19 17:19:32 +0000 UTCI have to disagree. I get Lorelai and Rory's reactions. I feel they were realistic. For Lorelai, she was originally pleasantly surprised that Chris let her in on all the stuff with Gigi. Unlike what Luke was doing. Her worry was valid. If I had kids, especially a 4 year old, I would not send them alone to another state let alone another country with a parent that's been unreliable and a nanny. I feel that's a valid concern. For Rory, the not knowing it's a group thing would be upsetting knowing there's only a few hours left and you have to share those hours with people he see's all day every day while he's working abroad. If he at least mentioned to her beforehand that it was a group, I think she would have been OK. Same with Bobbi being a girl. It came out of nowhere and that's a realistic reaction to have whether there's jealousy or not. How many months has he been away and not mentioned that Bobbi is a girl? And for anyone thinking "why does it matter?", if it didn't matter she was a woman he would have told her. Idk. She was blindsided in two different ways that night. I feel her reaction is valid and realistic.
