At this point in the show I prefer Serena over Blair. And yes I'm factoring in that she slept with Blair's boyfriend. I just find Blair completely insufferable in season 1. Whereas it seems like Serena is at least making an effort to be a better person. I won't comment on future storylines or seasons, but at this point in the series, I can totally get why a new viewer would enjoy Serena over Blair.

2022-05-24 20:18:38 +0000 UTCI disagree a little bit about Serena being to good of a friend to Blair, after all she did sleep with her boyfriend and then disappear from her life without explanation, when her parents were going through a divorce and she could have used someone. I think with the Blair and Serena friendship they fight and insult but when it's serious they show up or stop fighting, like when Blair was going after Serena, after she found out about Nate, but then when she realized what was going on with Eric she stopped and also tried to make up for it and now when they got into a fight Serena left, but when Blair had a resurgence of her eating disorder Serena showed up because that's what they do. As for the fight in this episode saying mean things seems to be Blair's defense mechanism, when they were talking about Chuck, Serena said she wouldn't be judgemental, then she got judgemental, so Blair lashed out and said mean things, so Serena left, seems kind of typical of their fights.

Usually all the titles have a pop culture reference of the times/ early 2000s. The reference to pie is also a play on words regarding Blair's manic-episode with bulimia, an eating disorder. Blair knew about her father being gay. She wrote that letter to Serena that she never got to send. It explained everything that happened while Serena was gone. Blair read it to Serena a few episodes back. Additionally, it was implied that Blair called her dad after the housemaid, Dorota, told her to give him a call. That is how Blair found out her mom lied to her dad and prevented him from coming to see her. Blair was upset that her mom just decided Blair wasn't going to see her dad during the holiday, especially after being gone so long without consulting her about it. This triggered Blair's eating disorder as it was hinted at in the flashback, which is why she took the whole pie after her Mom told her to take a dessert with her. Enjoyed the reaction! Glad you're invested with the character too. The pilot episode really does it a disservice
