No steven, you’re taking it too literal with the 7 years etc. The point of the episode is that there are upsides and down sides to both life paths. 1st life path: leaving his father’s side and evil ways to live a more wholesome life which would attract the good ppl like the kents, chloe and even lana towards him. One of the downsides would be as shown in the episode, if some trouble happens to him and his family where its financially burdensome he’d have to be DEPENDENT on the charity of others i.e his father. Which sucks for him but is a pretty normal circumstance for the average joe who is mid-Low class working individual 2nd life path: Live beside his father inheriting all that money, power, influence which would allow him to secure everything he needs in life as lex stated in the Ep and at the same time becoming a horrid person developing detestable traits like manipulation, dishonesty, duplicity, selfishness. All traits that would alienate him from good people but hey he’s got “Money & Power” And that is the conundrum this well made episode tried to display

2022-05-25 08:37:00 +0000 UTCSo this episode is fantastic imo because it sets up a tough choice for Lex. All his life he has had power, and has clearly abused in in recent years. He gives that all up in the dream for love, to be good, and to be at peace with his family and friends. But with love comes the eventual loss of those you care about. Lana dying just shows Lex that giving up power/money may give you love and short-term happiness but it cannot provide you security. Lex says at the end he wants it all and I think he's also referring to love. He wants love, he wants money, he wants power. With all three he can be happy and stay that way. Now would you or I make the same choice? Who knows? Lex didn't really consider his children or his friendships in the process. I think this episode was more of an inciting incident in terms of Lex's downfall. Something to push him farther than just greed.

He saw a possible better life for himself if he distances himself from his father but in the end he chooses power. Such a fun alternate universe story though. One of my favs.

2022-05-25 03:04:30 +0000 UTCThis was an episode I was waiting for you to get to since season 1 because since season 1 you’ve been saying that you believe Lex has been in love with Lana the whole time and you wonder if the writers will ever go there. This episode truly confirmed that in Lex’s heart that’s who he has loved and probably he has sort of pushed it from his mind until I believe season 4. However this episode was so good to get even more insight into the mindset of Lex and that decision he made at the end was so tragic but it was so obvious! We all know Lex has to turn evil so I would’ve been shocked if he made the right decision. It was so sad to watch his mother ghost look on in disappointment.
