2024-08-18 09:54:57 +0000 UTCI get how Octavia can feel annoying but a lot of it is because her life experience is wholly different from everyone else's and it informs everything she does. Octavia lived 80% of her life in the floor and 20% in prison for the crime of being born. Then they sent her off to die. The Arc murdered her mother (50% of the people she EVER met in her life). She thinks they're evil. They're not just harsh she was born guilty in their eyes. The idea of a community wanting her, any community, speaks to her primal psychological wound. And the grounders accepting her is very different vibe from the Arc feeling entitled to her loyalty despite abusing her for her entire life.

I liked her earlier in the series, but her acting high and mighty while pledging herself to a group who are at the very least objectively as bad, occasionally worse, is bizarre. Things like her anger at Clark from leaving them at the missile strike, when it is absolutely what the grounders would have done and what the commander would have/did do - while announcing how she is one of them, is so silly.
