I LOVE this episode!! When they do the closeup shots on Dean and Sam during the song Carry On I literally tear up every time. (And I laugh at the Destiel references even though I admit to totally shipping them.)🙂💙

2022-09-05 18:11:08 +0000 UTCI’m one of them who initially didn’t see the whole Destiel thing but now can’t miss it and totally ship it.🙂💙💚. Plus the show actually did a viewers poll thing that was sent out in I think s12 to see how viewers would respond to Dean being bi (it didn’t specifically mention Destiel) and some episodes then really kind of forged a possible path for it.. but they didn’t get a positive enough response so the network pulled back out of fear of losing viewers /$.

The Samulet was the necklace Sam was gonna give to John but gave to Dean instead for Xmas when they were kids. Dean always had it on in the earlier seasons and fans nicknamed it the Samulet. GREAT way to give a shoutout to fans. The reason the kid in the play took off the Samulet was ALSO the real reason Jensen Ackles chose for Dean to stop wearing it - it kept hitting him in the lip whenever there was an action scene. 5 minutes in and I'm already loving this. "It's close but it needs some Pssshhhhh-" cut to ALL the title cards the series has had so far - *BRILLIANT*. Throwback line "We've got work to do" - AMAZING. Sam and Dean's reaction when they entered the auditorium and walked straight into a Supernatural: the Musical rehearsal was EVERYTHING. The songs they've got SLAPS though, tbh. I've got em all on Spotify. Very catchy lol. THERE IS NO SINGING IN SUPERNATURAL. 🤣🤣🤣 None of them know what the real Sam and Dean look like cuz Chuck never drew them, just wrote about them. They went to that fan convention Becky tricked them into going and none of the cosplayers knew either. Dean being so grossed out and offended over everything in the play was so fun to watch. And Sam, trying to be the cool relatable one, being all "you know, back in MY day..." oh my lord...remember when he was just a baby in college?? Can you believe it's been over 10 years since? Feels like he aged a few decades after everything they went through. The whole Sam and Dean incest thing is just MESSED UP. But Destiel is an actual ship. It's very controversial, which is weird in 2022, but it is what it is. Cas is family but he's not Dean's brother so there's something there in the way they are that could be seen as romantic. The showrunners were VERY against it for some reason but some of the writers were all for it which is why, when they wrote these certain episodes, they added in quite a lot of Destiel moments and, as mentioned a lot in this episode, subtext. It's easy to miss if you weren't aware of Destiel in the first place - they had to be vague about it so as not to piss off the showrunners and the network and the fans who are quite emphatically against Destiel - but once you ARE aware of Destiel, it's impossible to miss these moments. In addition, Dean is very clearly queer coded and not just when it comes to Cas, either. Jensen Ackles was VERY against talking about Destiel at cons before the show wrapped. Personally, I feel that has a lot more to do with him not wanting there to be any arguments at cons because he was WELL aware that both sides for and against Destiel can get very emotional very quickly. A lot of these cons also didn't even allow asking Destiel questions though that has either been a lifted ban since or the cast just doesn't care and talks openly now 🤣. I will say that I don't think JA had any objections to Destiel as there have been many acting choices he's made that added to these Destiel scenes and moments that weren't scripted but made of his own volition and were kept in. These choices, these additions, to those scenes made their moments more meaningful and tender. I do like Dean's speech to the cast of the play. It's like the show telling us fans that we can interpret SPN however we want to and we're not wrong for it cuz it's OUR interpretation. Anyway, as much as the songs slap, it was kinda dark for Dean to be bopping along to the part where they sang about Mary being burned alive. Wtf, Dean, you've got issues 🤣🤣🥰 THEY TURNED THE DEMON EXORCISM SPELL INTO PART OF A SONG. The ingenuity of it all...I just can't... I love that Dean automatically slips into Big Brother Mode around kids and that he told Marie to "take a bow, Sammy". I ADORE their ballad version of Carry on My Wayward Son. And mentioning Adam was SPN poking fun at itself cuz they DID forget about him until fans were like...you know, for a show dedicated to brothers, you did leave the third brother in HELL for years... I'm glad Sam and Dean got to see the play and that scene where they were watching Carry On felt like the brothers seeing that they impacted the world in a good way, too. Not just by saving people, but that their lives, their stories MATTERED to people. It was sweet. I would watch an entire version of Marie's musical tribute to Supernatural...though I'm not too sure about the robots and aliens... AND THE CHUCK REVEAL AT THE END!!!! AHHHHH. Man, this episode WAS awesome. Love it to bits. I'm SO glad you enjoyed yourself so much with this one. It is in the top 10 episodes of the entire series in my opinion. Can't wait for the next one!

Just so you know I'm pretty sure this is the 200th episode.Also,Destiel was a big deal with a big portion of the fandom and itwas well known Jensen didn't like fans bringing it up at conventions ,hence the look directly into the camera which I believe you missed.
