wow what a great reaction you got very emotional at the end and i feel like i havent seen you get that emotional so i really liked this reaction. I personally always got vibes kutner was hiding sadness and when they had the episode when he and Taub talked about suicide and kutner kept asking about it i could see where it was going but i never expected it like that and so soon.

While there isn't really any build up, from rewatches I've at least felt his personality was in line with this choice, at least more so than it would've been if it was any other character.
