This show is definitely more relatable watching as a teenager. But lots of 14 year old girls are in that school and they don't act like her. There's only so much that can be excused for her character as a result of being in that environment, but majority is still her character, she WANTS to be part of that world too.

Plus, her issues are mostly excusable in comparison to the others, considering she's literally /14/. She's a 14 year old girl in a school of entitled bitches and emotionally stunted guys. Obviously she's gonna act the way she does and be the way she is.

Everyone else are just a bunch of hypocrites who like to play the victim (Serena, Dan, Nate). It is why I like Blair at this point in the show before here character develops into the best part of the show. (I know I am super bias ;) )

2022-06-21 17:21:00 +0000 UTCi don't like blair either so i agree with your thoughts about her in this one. but to be fair...i don't like nate either. nate shouldn't have slept with serena and blair shouldn't have slept with chuck the attempted rapist. they're both in the wrong in that regard. nate is dull and has nothing to offer so i don't have much to say about him as a character. but this notion that blair is some layered and ~complex~ character is kind of funny to me because i just don't see it. at least not at this point in the series. she is classist, ignorant, bitchy, self absorbed, and neurotic. yes she has an eating disorder and a rocky relationship with her mom but this doesn't make her ~complex~ or interesting imo. i appreciate the show's attempt at trying to humanize her but it doesn't work for me because she's done too much gross sh-t at this point. maybe i'd feel something for her if the show hadn't made her so unlikable and insufferable lol.

We'd just be stuck watching serena and dan be in love and jenny assimilate...sounds terrible lolll I can understand your view considering you don't really like her character though I guess. I personally love Blair but I'm always a sucker for lead female characters who lash out and are technically "a bitch" as a way to protect themselves from being hurt because there's a lot of room for growth with characters like that.

2022-06-21 03:55:49 +0000 UTCHonestly, maybe it's just me but F Nate. He slept with Serena while he and Blair were still together so he has no right to react the way he did about C&B. It was messed up Blair lied about it being her first time, but at least she wasn't chasing after Chuck for a year behind Nate's back and treating him like a second option. Blair is a complex character and kind of a bitch sometimes, but Nate genuinely hasn't got a leg to stand on in this. It's double-standards. Absolutely fine for him to sleep with her best friend, but not okay for her to sleep with his. He's such a dick. And Jenny just grates my nerves.
