"and then we taze the blood" LOL

Regarding your confusion over Clark's and Lana's relationship, I understand. In Reckoning Lana said she needed a break but I dont' think it was a total break up, she was saying she wanted some time for herself to consider their relationship but then Jonathan died so naturally she felt she needed to be there for her boyfriend. So they're still together just on shaky ground as they are keeping secrets from each other (as demonstrated at the end of the episode).

This episode is a bit of a deviation from the usual Smallville episode with the horror focus, but I agree it was well done. Chloe has come a long way from the girl in season 2 who was obsessed with Clark and wanted to know all the secrets. She really earned her chops when learned about Clark's secret and opted to not share it with anyone (including Clark). The investigative streak is still there as she is a reporter but this is what makes her a good detective and capable aide to Clark. I think by this point she's really inspired by how much Clark helps people around him and her reporting reflects that.

I also wanna add that Lana being there for him when Johnathon died was sort of just her being there in his time of need and certainly wasn't permanent cure for their issues & doesnt mean that problems they had in reckoning have now magically disappeared. That is what this episode displayed, even tho things seemed a bit better between the two, the problems still definitely exists. I mean they aren't even comfortable communicating with eachother, so you were right to be questioning things when it seemed like everything was all sunflowers and dandelions, cuz the truth is NOPE they still got issues, but what u got wrong was thinking they broke up for good cuz that was never stated

Clark and Lana never broke up. She asked for some space and a break in the reckoning episode but they never broke up. The show would've made a bigger deal out of it had they done so. Yes, when Johnathon died Lana put aside her disatifcation with clarks dishonesty and prioritized being there for him. It definitely put things in perspective. I mean Clarks pops just died you don't expect Lana to be that petty to not console or be there for him do you? Plus, Allison Mack who plays chloe is superb at those emotional scenes, she always knocks it out of the park
