I just think parents are eternally worried that a new person is going to come in and disrupt their child's life, when really, they're just afraid of their child growing up and disagreeing with them about the choices they want to make for themselves. The Daphne and Wilke thing I just think was miscommunication. Wilke assumed they were dating and Daphne told him they're not. Just as simple as that. I do think she is obviously still harboring some feelings for Emmett, but I don't blame Daphne for not wanting to be with Wilke at this moment.
