They were also not really ready, not fully trained, with no powers to speak of, they can be mad at Buffy, it was her fault, even though she had no ill intentions. She just had no idea just how strong Caleb really was...

Buffy knew that she had limited time before the enemy was Even stronger. My point was that there was no choice Buffy could make that would not be foolish and lead to death. She had to get in the fight eventually and whenever that was there were going to be massive casualties.

For a start, The First can be everywhere and see everything at once so it's pretty much impossible to wage a surprise attack against it. Secondly, Caleb was literally goading her into a confrontation and wanted to lure her to the vineyard so she was playing right into her hands. Thirdly, Buffy herself even states that The Bringer she and Faith were following "looked like he wants to be found" which meant it was deliberately leading them to the vineyard. How exactly could it be a surprise attack if the Bringer led them there so they knew where Caleb was? They again played right into their enemies hands and even said OUT LOUD that this "lends credence to the 'it's a trap' theory" but continued anyway. They actually have every right to be angry at Buffy. It was a foolish decision.

They were going to die regardless, there were no chance to surrender! Why be mad at buffy because they went in like that? That is the only choice when your enemy is that much stronger! They had been lying low in retreat for so long and the element of suprise was all they had. You Will eventually have to get in the ring and sparr with your opponent, otherwise you Will never be able to win. Timing is everything when you an in their position and it Will be a gamble, no way all of them was gonna survive no matter what buffy did.

2022-07-26 16:06:35 +0000 UTCOne of my biggest complaints with season 7 is that I feel like The First isn’t a great big bad because it doesn’t have a full time corporeal form. If only we could have had Caleb the whole season as the henchman for The First I think it would have made the season much more effective because Nathan Fillion is so good and so creepy in the role.

I've been watching him since he was 22 years old playing a teenager on the soap opera One Life To Live where he was nominated for an Emmy, following him to Two Guys and a Girl (a hilarious sitcom) and everything else since. 💗 I've said it before and I'll say it again, you get some of the best performances from soap actors because they've had the most training: Nathan, Sarah Michelle Geller, Emma Caulfield (Anya), and Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn). All came from soaps.
