I think Moira has a hard time putting aside the facade of their former life, but in the end, she is savvier to their situation and even the feelings of others in the town than she lets on. She often will put on her airs but then be quietly sweet. I think she knew she'd end up sending the dress back much sooner than she let on. She just wanted the fantasy for a little longer.
