2022-07-30 04:36:48 +0000 UTCI'm no expert, but from what I know having known some children and adults or parents of children with various levels of autism on the spectrum, it is in very early childhood that the first signs can appear. Not wanting tactile stimulation, lack of eye contact, being non or low verbal start to be noticeable in more severe cases. Those with more Asperger's (no longer an official term I think) type of manifestations may show those things mildly but may show savant like talents and fixations. For instance, I have a cousin in that level and by the time he was preschool aged he was fascinated with airplanes, particularly military, and knew models and information about them to an astonishing degree but was not learning social cues at the same rate as other children. And of course, every child is unique, and these things can manifest in any combination of severity and variety. Again, this is just practical knowledge and may not be flawless in its accuracy.
