I loved this episode a lot because the music is so fun and it reminded me of the beginnings of Glee - singing bringing you joy! To get a little serious, Jake's argument kind of just went down the lane of victim blaming. Like, Britney Spears having a mental health crisis and Whitney Houston having an addiction and Rihanna just existing literally doesn't equate to anything that Chris has done. It was very insulting to even hear survivors of abuse being brought up in that way. Like, it's not just that Chris Brown isn't a good role model, or that people don't agree with the things he's done, but he is an abuser and stalker and just not a good person. And I would not be thrilled about my partner enjoying his music for those reasons. The fact that he still even has a career baffles me. Michael Jackson is a trickier situation, since when he was alive he was found to be not guilty and maintained his innocence until he died. There are people who believe he is 100% guilty and people who believe who he is 100% innocent and then those who fall in between. And since he's dead, people in general I find are being kinder to his legacy. I can't speak further about it, but if I remember correctly, Also, if I remember correctly, the last time the Glee club sang Michael was in his Season 3 episode, and they don't do it again. Bobby Brown is kind of just as bad as Chris, but people in general were a lot more sympathetic to him after Whitney's passing, so understand why Glee made that choice. (And My Prerogative is better than any song CB has put out imo). And my jaw dropped when you said you haven't heard of Creep by Radiohead lol And it hurts me that you didn't like Blaine's Against All Odds. It's one of my favorite covers from the show.
