I also find Lucas hanging out with Peyton disrespectful to Brooke’s feelings. Last episode and this episode. She asked Lucas at the wedding to not hang out with her that day and that’s all he’s done since. It would hurt my feelings too. Also, did this girl go all day without someone telling her Happy Birthday. Damn.

Ahh!! We finally meet Derrick!!!!!! I think, individually, Lucas and Peyton have some interesting storylines, especially this season. Romance wise, I just don't care about them

I think the show fell in love with Lucas and Peyton in season one. I feel like you were maybe too focused on the Brooke of it all and the cheating. The show started with Peyton almost hitting Lucas with her car, him helping her when she needed a tow, turning in her artwork, etc. Season four is them rebuilding their friendship. Rachel really summed up my feelings about what kind of friend Peyton is during the bar scene. She only came in the store when she accepted that Brooke wasn't coming and she is genuinely trying to give Lucas what he says he wants. I also don't think they should have to hide in the shadows because Brooke is upset with Peyton. Like Chamari said Luke has no idea what really happened and therefore there is no reason not to hang out with Peyton who is arguably his best friend. Peyton probably feels like she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. Brooke already thinks the worst of her. I don't remember the outcome of the Nathan storyline but I remember being irritated by it. It's just not that interesting to me. Same thing with Rachel going after Nathan. It's just like sure Rachel. Skills is a lot more present and funny this season which is nice. Deb is the one character that I feel like the writers did the largest injustice to. It's just not right what they do to her character when she was such a strong one in the beginning. The show does not want us to root for Dan but this is all part of a larger storyline. Unfortunately Karen is caught in the middle of it. Season four is the best and I look forward to you reacting to it.

Also, I definitely don't think we're supposed to root for Dan. The horrible irony of this whole Karen/Dan situation that is unfolding is that the audience knows what he did and Karen doesn't. I think they're totally setting up something there, but you said it: Dan murdered Keith. Even if we were supposed to root for Dan to be a better man, he CANNOT do that since he committed that deed and is LYING to everyone he is trying to make amends with. I think so many viewers in general want women to be unreasonably resilient when it comes to situations they face on TV. Deb was in an abusive relationship with Dan for YEARS and now he has threatened her life, yet again. The addiction coming back makes perfect sense.

Gosh, I adore this season, I don't know what it is about it... I am just really into everything that is happening. The beauty and the mess. Unpopular Opinion Time!!!! (haha I really love polluting the comments with my Leyton takes) Honestly, at this point, Lucas is seeking Peyton out and hanging out with her. Most of their scenes with this episode were in her bedroom. To be very frank, Lucas is quite dumb, or just very clueless. I don't think he understands at all that him hanging out with Peyton upsets Brooke because 1) Brooke told him that their breakup wasn't about Peyton and 2) He likes hanging out with Peyton. Him seeking out Peyton and wanting to be around her has been there since the pilot episode. Now, to him, she's one of his closest friends and they're helping each other out. Peyton, on the other hand, is trying to do two things: 1) Not blow her cover, which is why, in my opinion, she hasn't told Luke to stay away from her/not hang out with her and she's trying to act "cool" and 2) help Luke get Brooke back. Because feelings inside, I think she genuinely believes she's trying to help out both of her friends... she is just in a really weird position. The whole "hanging out in public" thing was singularly a way for Luke to get Brooke back, so I don't really blame them for just merely being in each other's company. That's the thing about them... they have a natural ease and connection that they don't really think twice about.
