2022-09-13 21:43:02 +0000 UTCI know someone else mentioned it but Ollie was being sarcastic/funny when said "my god" it was supposed to be funny. This version of Oliver has a lot of quick wit and dry humor just like the comic version of the character does.

2022-09-07 06:49:13 +0000 UTCYea, so fun fact, Smallville first started as a pitch for a young Bruce Wayne show. However, because of the success of the Batman movies and animated shows Warner Bros were very protective of the rights of that character and wanted to keep him exclusively for the movies. Instead they asked the creators to rework the show into Smallville. The creators very much wanted to still eventually use Bruce Wayne, however when it became apparent they never would be able to now that Batman Begins was such a success they introduced Oliver to play out the storyline that Bruce Wayne would have had.

2022-09-04 13:36:30 +0000 UTCNot only that but at that point DC was being very precious about their IP and didn’t let the show use their superhero names….aqua-man was just AC and the flash was Impulse. Green Arrow and Oliver Queen was one the first that they were allowed to use outright. Hence brining in the new character.

And the reason Smallville used him is because at that point in time (2006) there was no way to get the TV rights for Bruce Wayne/Batman. Batman Begins had come out the year before, plannings for The Dark Knight were underway. So they decided to go with the "poor man's version of Batman" which he was when he was first introduced in 1941 after the Batman comics rose in popularity.
