I think that girl/guy codes are BS! That is like saying that one person has a permanent claim on someone they once dated preventing their friends from seeing, completely disregarding the feelings of both their friend and their ex. If it is someone you were once married too, that is a little more complicated, and obviously in either scenario timing is important, but if a fair amount of time has passed and you have both moved on enough to start seeing other people, your "claim" has ended!
