I disagree that Gabriella would’ve had the right to be mad after he was stuck with Sharpay, you said it’s okay when he’s pulled away by the boss, but she is his boss’ boss, he was kind of stuck.

2023-09-11 18:39:31 +0000 UTCYou're right, ryan is gay coded but it's disney, so :/ and it gets even worse in 3 cause they just make him straight cause i guess parents didn't like the implications. It's heavily implied chad and him hooked up. People brush it as just a theory but i mean, the baseball scene says it all and you noticed their outfit switch. People theorize chad is bisexual and hence the homophobia in the first movie with the 'guys dont sing or do musicals'. It's also implied he may like Troy and be lowkey in love with him. I think that's more theorizing, but i kind of see it considering how weirdly jealous he was of gabriella...like, way more than a normal friend. It's all fun theories and i think it makes sense. Some disagree with the chad/ryan stuff and a lot more disagree with troy/chad but i really think chad and ryan hooked up lol. He's way too excited about the man being good at baseball.

High School Musical 2 is the most watched Disney Channel premiere of all time with 17+ million viewers. I remember that leading up to the movie, we could “vote” for certain things in the movie. They were mostly little things that were multiple choice options - what Chad shirt should say in the opening number, what sandwich Troy made for Gabriella, etc. So, we voted for that Miley Cyrus cameo in the end lmao Gabriella was totally underutilized in this film, I agree, but dare I say that worked to this film’s benefit? Haha the breakup song was great and quite literally broke my heart when I was nine, (giving back the ‘T’ necklace??) but I do think, generally speaking that Troy was breaking off commitments to Gabriella and to his friends. It’s totally okay to focus on his future, but I think a lot of the animosity came from the fact that Troy didn’t get these opportunities solely based off of merit, but because Sharpay liked him. And he could have tried harder to include his teammates in his come-up, but that’s my own opinion. It’s interesting that in Troy’s perceived selfishness, Gabriella decides to quit and be “selfish” too aka choosing herself. I wonder if they made the film, like, ten minutes longer, if we could have gotten more about what she wanted out of the summer, but it seemed to be just to spend time with her boyfriend and her friends after not being able to settle for an a single summer, and once that was messed with, she was out. I actually liked that they doubled down on Sharpay as the villain. She’s definitely at her meanest and most devious here, and it really works in driving the story forward. Anyways, have MUCH else to say but
