The Little Mermaid live action exceeded my expectations. I loved the original The Little Mermaid so I was definitely nervous about this movie just because Disney's live action movies based off their animated movies have been very hit or miss in my opinion but I found myself loving this movie as much (honestly more than) the original. I liked the subtle changes like the characters definitely being more fleshed out (especially Eric) and I liked that Ariel forgets she was suppose to kiss Eric but they still bonded and nearly kiss (as opposed to the animation where Ariel is actively trying to get a kiss from Eric). A highlight beyond Halle's singing was Halle's acting she was able to show her emotions off well without even speaking and simply by her facial expressions (which weren't over-exaggerated which they really could've been)

I also would have loved to see the sparkly dress at the end of the movie when king trident transforms her back into a human!

Halle’s voice was incredible and so beautiful, I of course already loved her music but fell even more in love with her voice if that is even posible! could not even dream of a better casting!

2023-08-13 02:39:55 +0000 UTCThe first time I heard part of your world in theaters, I actually teared up. You can feel Halle put emotion into the song and honestly I perfer this version over the original sung by Jodi. Halle was by far the best choice

To me, this may be tied with beauty and the beast for my favorite live action followed by Aladdin, mulan, and lion king as my 5. While Cinderella and jungle book were technically good, I wasn’t a big fan of the cartoon versions before it.
