I think the reason the boss was such a hard ass was because Peter was sent to him as a punishment. If you think about it from the guy's perspective, he and all his normal people work hard and do an important job but. In order to teach Peter a lesson the higher ups send him to "the cave"which did not sound like a term of endearment when Peter said it. The boss knows HIS warehouse is known as that so its not that surprising he is kind of pissed
