Chess is a hard game. The moves the pieces are allowed to make are pretty simple to remember (there are only 6 different pieces) but the strategies behind each move are numerous. For example: There are only 20 different first moves White can make but there are already 1327(!) named(!!) openings. An opening is a a group of moves made by White and Black back-and-forth until the board has a certain configuration. Chess comes from Persia and the Persian word for king: Shah, because it's basically a king commanding his army in a strategic war.
