Personally my favorite proposals I shows are the surprise ones. Alot of shows do the thing where the guy reveals to the audience that he's proposing well before he does. That's why this one and the New Girl proposal are my favs (not going to reveal specifics cause of spoilers)

Jake won this Heist one for me. You being surprised by something in any show is fun.

Jake and Amy had a solid healthy relationship. I LOVED Chandler and Monica's relationship, Mondler over Ross and Rachel anyday (although I loved Ross and Rachel too and wanted them to end up together)

my favorite brooklyn 99 episode - the surprise proposal at the end of an already amazing heist was GENIUS. you're right, I'm really glad they never broke Jake and Amy up too. They just progressed and ran into normal obstacles couples go through but it never turned annoying like Ross and Rachel did.

Yes. Jake and Amy are the best sit com couples cause for me a comedy should not have that much relationship drama.

You are COMPLETELY right about Jake and Amy's relationship. They're such a healthy couple who genuinely love each other and don't have unnecessary drama. There's no dumb break ups, there's no cheating, there's not even any moments where either is tempted to cheat like in so many other shows, they don't try to get in the way of each other's careers because they're insecure about their own. They're both just super supportive of each other and truly care about each other. And embrace each other's quirks. Amy doesn't like Die Hard, but she listens to Jake talk about it and also has watched them all herself. Jake doesn't care about things like paperwork and books, but he listens to Amy when she talks about them and actually did end up reading books because Amy loved them (and ended up loving them himself... (Harry Potter)) And it was her caring about a typo in a Crossword Puzzle that made him realise he wanted to marry her. They don't try to change each other, they don't try to convince each other that their interests are better, they just share these things with each other. It's great. And yes! I love that the Proposal just came out of nowhere. We didn't get to see Jake planning it, we didn't have a moment where he tells someone else or someone else finds out he's planning to. No, we just see him kinda panicky when things start to go wrong, and then suddenly he's proposing. But my favourite thing about it is rewatching the episode. Because on rewatches, everything just makes PERFECT sense. Jake said that planning for this years Heist is the only thing that got him through Prison, and he decided to propose BEFORE he went to Prison, therefore the thing that kept him going through Prison was planning his Proposal. He was desperate to win this year, when Charles betrayed him he was really panicked and told him that he really had to win this year. He INVESTED IN A PYRAMID SCHEME because that was the only way he knew how to get out of that situation without telling anyone his plan. (Because if he'd told Charles he would've instantly let him out, but he couldn't let it get back to Amy...) Just everything makes so much sense on rewatches. Also, like you said! The fact that his proposal literally counted on Amy being smart enough to figure everything out (except the proposal, of course!!) is so cute! Another thing I love about their relationship, they both KNOW how smart the other is and that's part of why they love them. Jake KNOWS that Amy is an amazing Detective, so he planned a proposal that depended on that. But of course, the moment Amy says she's always gonna be one step ahead of him, he was always a step ahead with that proposal! No one knew that was coming! Sorry for the essay... I just have a lot of feelings about this proposal and the relationship between Jake and Amy... Haha I could go on even longer, but I'm cutting myself off here...

Yea no I never liked Ross and Rachel. Hated Ross he was whiny and as time goes on people realize how not great they are. Monica and Chandler are definitely the gold standard on that show

This is the rare episode (of anything) I feel no hesitation about giving the "Perfect" vote. And yes, Jake and Amy are a model of how to build a good sitcom relationship. Once we're past the "dating other people" obstacles of season 2, there are no artificial barriers put in their way, and the actual proposal deserves a special prize, camouflaged as it is in the midst of an annual "hijinx" episode.

Jake and Amy are among my favorite TV couples. Love that they didn't have to have a ton of drama and they have always had very good chemistry.
