She's definitely in to Max but she's just seeing Kyle casually. Its ok to feel bad for Kyle though, he kind of gets the shaft because of the connection that Liz and Max have. I think they had to do that because the connection they have is important to the storyline. I personally don't feel bad for Kyle because its clear Liz isn't really interested in him. The show was not a ratings winner and it aired on the CW which struggled even more back then than it does now if that's possible.
