I'd argue the ending of this episode kinda showed and justified her crazy attachment to Clark/Kal-el and his destiny etc., which is definitely then bolstered through the inheritance of all that knowledge/information regarding Clark/Kal-el from both Lex and Lionel. Towards the end of the episode here we see that it seemed as if she was on the orders of whatever was in that Orb. I don't think you caught it but the last line was "Then you will be the Savior of Kandor". Which is a tease of what might be the explanation of what seems to be the quick/odd shift in her character
