You might want to fix the tag on this to match the others (Brian - Gilmore Girls) so it shows up where it's supposed to. ❤️

I think one of the main reasons Lorelai was so angry with Dean and the situation was just lack of communication on Rory’s part. I get that she didn’t want to talk about Dean because it hurt so I don’t blame Rory for Lorelai’s feelings, but Lorelai didn’t know the reason they broke up was because Dean told Rory he loved her and Rory didn’t say it back. Without knowing the why of the break up I’m sure she was making up all these scenarios in her head about what could have happened and how much her daughter was hurting because of it, so of course she gets protective of her kid. You can see her immediate change of emotions from anger to confusion when Dean tells her what happened, and I think it made all the difference in her opinion of him and the situation. So yeah definitely shouldn’t have been so angry with him, but in a way I really do understand her feelings, and think now that she knows why it ended she’s not carrying those feelings of anger towards him anymore.

Totally agree with you on the Lorelai/Max thing. It's been two weeks of PHONE CONVERSATIONS and they'd literally just decided to go on an official date. What exactly was there to tell? It was also inappropriate as hell for him to talk to Rory about all that personal stuff IN SCHOOL. As her teacher or her mum's maybe boyfriend.
My issue with it, though, has A LOT more to do with the timing. Lorelai has been through the ringer with Rory going missing and even though she had found out where Rory is, it's still an emotional time. And he decides THIS is the perfect moment to talk about it? And make a big fuss out of nothing? Mate, you two literally broke up because news of your relationship got out. Of course she's gonna be discreet about it now, especially since there's nothing to tell yet.
Max kind of strikes me as a needy guy - he literally throws himself into the relationship from the get-go and is kind of upset that Lorelai isn't telling people within the first two days like he is.
And you asked why Lorelai mentioned that "no one is safe" at her parents' house. If you notice, her parents are a lot different with her than they are with Rory. With Lorelai, they're (especially Emily) quite harsh with their criticism. Even before getting pregnant, Lorelai is used to being the odd duck in that environment, like a black sheep who gets reminded of everything her parents think she's doing wrong. She quite literally felt her home was hell. It was an emotionally toxic place for her, so that's why she said that.
As we've seen, Rory has a much different relationship with Richard and Emily. I do think Rory is their 2nd chance at "getting it right", so they're doing it very differently with her, careful not to upset or alienate her the way they did being strict with Lorelai.
If you notice, when Rory went to bed and Richard asked what happened, Emily actually looked subtly pleased that Rory had a fight with Lorelai and chose to run away to their house instead of anywhere else. There IS a part of her that likes that.
As for Rory...yeah, she was wrong to lash out at Lane and Lorelai. It sucks that her heart's broken but it doesn't give her the right to be that way when Lane and Lorelai have been so supportive of her. That conversation with Max at school should have never happened but it was wrong of her to say all those things to Lorelai. I'm glad they all worked it out in the end.
And Dean? No, he doesn't deserve to be treated like a criminal or be "run out of town", but he did deserve a bit of a dressing down by Lorelai. He got ANGRY at Rory for not saying ILY. He wouldn't listen when she tried to explain she just wasn't ready. And then he broke up with her for it. I get it, teenagers, hormones, first loves, whatever. And you're right, if he was too hurt and wanted to break up, that's his right. But the WAY he did it, the tone he used...all of it. That was kind of a mean reaction that Rory didn't deserve. I do think he should apologise to her for it.
I'm kind of sad that Paris, Louise and Madeline aren't friends with Rory again. I was living for their girl bonding before. I love Lane but Rory needs some Chilton friends too and Rory/Paris have a great dynamic. I miss it.
Lorelai is a GOAT tbh the way she didn't let Rory upset her too much with all her crabbiness because she knew Rory was just hurting, and the way she didn't blow up at Max for choosing to question her on not telling people when daughter had technically run away from home, even if she knew where to. I'd have been like "I NEED TO HAVE A GOOD CRY ABOUT MY KID. GET OUT OF HERE WITH ALL THIS NONSENSE!!"

also i feel like she probably feels like her little bubble, her safety net, has been snatched away. it's always been just her and lorelei in stars hallow. no grandparents. no boys. no new school with new societal problems. now she's been thrust into this whole new world and having so many first experiences and new things to navigate through that it must be super overwhelming especially for someone her age who grew up with one set thing pretty much her whole life. again, i just want to hug her. give her a cup of tea. give her a good pep talk. lord knows i would have been a wreck in her shoes at her age lmao

i definitely feel for rory here. of all the guys lorelei could have gone with it had to be a teacher at her school? i just can't get over that. it would be so awkward for a child especially with a school like chilton and i don't think lorelei took her into consideration at all. i don't always agree with rory but my heart does go out for her right now. so many big changes, trying to fit into this new school, deal with bullies, have a first love and first heart aches, trying to navigate mom dating the teacher and the more bullying that comes from that. all while dealing with every other awkward messy teenage problem and emotion. i just want to hug her right now lol

i totally agree with your lorelai/max/rory analysis at the end. lorelai didn’t have to tell anyone anything. i know rory was upset about dean and everything here too but she was out of line with everything she said to lorelai about her relationships—she was shaming her grown mother for her love life. luckily lorelai understood that she didn’t mean it, though.
also, max—what do you want her to do? shout it from the rooftops? after you just broke up with her over the chilton community finding out? take it one step at a time, dude lol

i keep saying this, but i’m so interested in seeing how your opinions of the characters evolve throughout the show! gilmore girls is so consistently amazing, but i feel like each season has a different vibe. it’s so exciting seeing people watch for the first time
