2023-09-11 10:37:52 +0000 UTCSo true about babies. My newborn a week after bringing her home went blue and stopped breathing when I was cuddling her. Both times by the time the ambulance arrived she was back to normal. I thought for sure everyone would just think I was over exaggerating coz I was alone both times...we went to the hospital to be safe and she did the same thing in front of the drs and nurses and had to be rushed to resus. Was so bloody scary. I love greys ur definitely in for a wild ride

2023-09-10 04:16:04 +0000 UTC"the thing that's so beloved about greys is these imperfect, messy characters"... exactly!! That is why I love Meredith so hard. She's as messed up as the rest of us. I like messy, realistic characters. Honestly, the more "damaged" they are, the more they interest me because that means there are layers to peel back and examine and so much room to grow.

2023-09-09 22:50:07 +0000 UTCyeah I think Burke’s warning was supposed to discourage her from ever doing that again. but Mer is not generally one of these having-to-butt-in everywhere people. this was really a one time thing.

2023-09-09 22:19:06 +0000 UTCyeah good point! I think this wasn’t written particularly well, they could’ve made it more clear why Mer is so against everyone being her roommate.

2023-09-09 22:16:56 +0000 UTCI don’t think Steven will ever hate her on a Serena level bc Mer actually has good qualities and has to face the consequences of her actions many times. I think he just dislikes characters who get away with too much. And I don’t think Mer falls into that category.

2023-09-09 22:15:14 +0000 UTCyes!! she's the main lead (it's greys anatomy for a reason lol) and it seemed he went into it already very annoyed with her which is unfortunate. she's flawed but you're still meant to root for her and encourage her growth. none of the characters on greys are perfect people and they all have annoying tendencies but i think that's why the audience connects with and loves them so much! meredith is good and kind and sweet but she's also very insecure and has the weight of the world on her shoulders. she can be immature and spiteful and make mistakes. i just hope he, and anyone else new to the show, can see the good sides along with the bad and doesn't just write her off or get frustrated; there's nuance to her character and her plot this episode i worry got overlooked from just being annoyed by her out the gate. the thing that's so beloved about greys is these imperfect, messy characters

2023-09-09 21:04:02 +0000 UTCI really hope you end up liking, or at least appreciating Meredith. Based on your hatred of Serena (GG) and Peyton (OTH), I do worry. I am just hoping you give her a chance since she is the lead and we're watching this to get away from the hate watching. 😂 She's complicated, indecisive and dramatic which will likely annoy you, but she's also empathetic, intelligent, compassionate, and hard-working.

2023-09-09 20:33:40 +0000 UTCaww lol i'd 10/10 have a movie/show marathon with you! and yes!!! no matter how many times i've seen it, i've always come back to it and it always feels the same!

2023-09-09 17:04:38 +0000 UTCShe WASN'T out of line for expressing her concern. She WAS out of line for doing it the way she did. It's literally her first day as an intern and she went straight to the parents and a senior attending who isn't even in charge of the patient. I think Steven was right - it WOULD have been cooler if she hadn't been right, just to humble her character a little. Would have been a bit more realistic. You know, stepping into the surgical field after years of study then seeing signs everywhere, going above the next person in the chain of command, having it turn to nothing and have it be a learning moment...but yeah, this was fine too I guess lol. I did like what Burke said to her though. Semi humbling moment I suppose

2023-09-09 13:23:28 +0000 UTCi don't think she steps out of bounds....like i'd much rather have a doctor notice something "insignificant" and check it out than just shrug it off and have it turn into something. i think she could have handled it better with the chain of command but i don't think she was out of line for expressing her concern at all.

2023-09-09 13:07:37 +0000 UTCyes!! she's had to wall herself off for so long! my comment was more to his response to her asking about the shuttle because i can 100% see myself asking something similar and hearing someone say "oh i wasn't born yet" or "i was in kindergarten" would completely shut that down lol but yes!! she doesn't want to let people in/close and this storyline was so jarring to her

2023-09-09 13:05:08 +0000 UTCAlso I think I get it with the roommate situation. Meredith is a surgical intern so likely she will spend 3/4 of her time in the hospital. When she's home she wants roommates who aren't annoying but also people she won't have to befriend, make small talk with, etc. I guess she was asking about the music, their age, etc. because younger people might have a louder personality and have friends over, blast their music, etc. while older people might be more low key? And she didn't want roommates who were also her friends cuz then she'd have to talk to them, etc. She wants an uncomplicated quiet time at home. I get the reasoning. But I'm also glad she ended up choosing Izzie and George only because it gives us more time to get to know them

2023-09-09 10:50:21 +0000 UTCFrom what I remember Meredith's whole thing was McDreamy and stepping out of bounds when it comes to patients. The stories are super interesting and I'm a little too inpatient to get to some of them now lol. I think right now Bailey is my fav. Every time she goes on a rant I'm grinning. Cristina DOESN'T give AF. She does really just care about being the best surgeon. Izzie was sweet this episode. She did a great job and it might not have been legal but I like that she helped out. Allison's story was interesting. They were right. She is a warrior. I'm glad she survived.

2023-09-09 10:46:21 +0000 UTCI think all the things Mer asked the others like what’s your fav band etc was just a defense mechanism, she just wanted an excuse not to have any roommates bc she doesn’t wanna open herself up. But in the end she realised that it’s better if she does otherwise she‘ll end like that rape victim with the same shoes who nobody showed up for at the hospital.
thisismaria27
2023-09-09 08:49:46 +0000 UTCthat’s ofc different for everybody but I at least think Mer does only have main character syndrome for a little bit, they thankfully realised pretty quickly that this is an ensemble show and focused on the characters pretty equally.

2023-09-09 08:07:17 +0000 UTCalso when you were like "why is she speaking" when meredith said the patients name in the O.R...they're allowed to talk. since it's a teaching hospital it's expected that they may ask questions or participate vocally at times. it's not like it's not allowed for them to speak unless there's a very delicate maneuver that requires everyone to kinda be still and quiet. otherwise, i think it's fine.

2023-09-09 07:56:49 +0000 UTCi can't remember exactly when i stopped watching - i think maybe some point during season 8? but i had the same thing with meredith as i did with piper on oitnb - she's ostensibly the main character, at least initially, but also (in my opinion, at least) often the least interesting.

2023-09-09 04:57:05 +0000 UTCright!! like this is gonna sound so cheesy, but when i first watched grey's it felt like i was part of their little friend group and seeing it back now, it really is like seeing old friends!

2023-09-09 03:44:11 +0000 UTCi'll probably comment more but i want to say i understand mer completely with the roommate situation. i wouldn't want to live with people very much younger than me too! we'd be on two very different levels. she's already had her messy younger years and wants someone older to room with who is where she is at too emotionally and financially. i 100% get it. this entire episode was about not closing people off though and allowing yourself to open up and welcome friendships and experiences. mer has had to close herself off for so long. now she's finally allowing herself to step out of that and be more open.

2023-09-09 02:52:21 +0000 UTCso excited for this!! these early seasons are my comfort show. the characters feel like seeing old friends. no matter how many times i've seen it, i always just find my heart so full for them!
