thank you!!! and thank you for bringing up the fact they're adults who have undergone college, med school, etc. sometimes i feel like he compares it to a professor dating a student and in doing so it kind of infantalizes meredith a little. she's a grown woman, not a young new adult who is 18-20. at this stage of her career, while she's still in her educational period that doesn't mean she's not a grown adult. and that right there is why it's not looked down on or why they aren't getting in trouble like i think he's wanting them to. because they're both grown, consenting adults. to me it's no different than any other show where coworkers hook up and that's almost all of them lol

Many workplaces have disclosure agreements meaning as long as you document your relationship with HR and abide by policy it is not an issue. That's something that exists now, then it didn't but again that doesn't prevent dating it just makes it public. "No hospital would allow them to be together" is just not accurate, because while technically this is a teaching hospital these are not young adults or college students. These are adults who have gone through college and four years of medical school. It's like a grad student dating a professor or a TA dating a professor, is it ethical? no but is it violating policy? also no. Because these are adults. Also it varies hospital to hospital.

2023-10-27 00:37:47 +0000 UTCright!! i also still don't think it'd be frowned on too much today....i mean, the power dynamics may be an issue but...take a bunch of people all in the same young age bracket, put them together in a situation where they don't have lives outside of their work, and it's at work the hookups and relationships take place. i've heard the same about grad school and dynamics with certain companies where the workers are always at work. i don't think it's really all that unusual.
