I think Maxine beating up Justin is funny because we see a little girl, but we know it's Max, so it's like brothers tussling. In the same way, I don't think Maxine beating up Alex would be funny at all. I also like Max as Maxine I think the story about Alex realizing she wasn't a little girl anymore, but still wanted the parental attention was a great story beat for Alex. Also, she has been trying with Justin to turn back Maxine into Max... so she is clearly doing something lol Theresa and Jerry "not caring" that Max isn't Max is also on par with who they are as parents because they get to have a cute little girl in their family again.
