Charlie definitely did NOT need to apologise to Tao. Nick&Charlie isn't just Charlie's secret - it's primarily Nick's secret because he's still in the closet and figuring stuff out. Isaac guessed it but Charlie never confirmed it for him. Nick was the one who told Tara, Darcy and Elle. I wish someone would have pointed this out to Tao. I don't think the show wanted us to side with Tao, but I think they wanted to show us that Charlie takes on the guilt over everything bad that happens. He literally apologises for saying sorry. You're already finished w s2 now so it's not spoilery to say (DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN S2) that I think they did really well subtly hinting at Charlie's depression and ED this whole season. Charlie always hiding in his bed - oof, so real. He's always "not hungry" or "will eat later" and you see him open his lunch box and close it without eating anything and he makes faces when he eats chips...it's all very subtle but when you know YOU KNOW. I really like that a lot. Idk if chat told you but the person sitting in the train next to Nick and Charlie on the way to the beach (which are very pebbly and not very sandy in the UK btw) is Alice Oseman, the creator of Heartstopper! They were really drawing Nick and Charlie right then and there and showed it on their socials when s1 dropped. Loved this episode and loved the way Nick came out to his mum. I saw the bloopers of that scene where Olivia got distracted by Kit's "little face". He's phenomenal and she knew it, too. He does portray anxiety very well here and during Narlie's first kiss scene at the party in 1x3. Such a well done show for ALL the reasons and an incredibly talented cast as well. Can't wait to jump in and binge your s2 reactions now 🥰🌈🍂
