well. i wasn't excepting to tear up at this pilot lol no matter how many times i've seen certain episodes, uncle phil always gets to me. i love the dynamic between the two. james avery was incredible.

I've watched the whole series through myself but it was probably 15 years ago now. Maybe more. I don't remember the jokes well so the pilot had me DYING. I only remember sporadic scenes and like two iconic moments. I DO remember the Will and Ashley bond though and that I loved Fresh Prince so much. This is making me so damn nostalgic lol. Uncle Phil and Will always have the most incredible scenes together and I can't believe we got one in the pilot. It gave me CHILLS

He got into a fight, and his mother immediately sent him away because she was afraid he was headed for trouble (probably worried about gangs, given that it was Philadelphia). By what Phil said about Will straightening up, it's likely that was part of the idea of him moving there, having a stable home life and getting his act together.

My mom and I watched every episode together, which makes my memory of it even sweeter, and the series still pretty much holds up today. The Fresh Prince was my introduction to the force that is Will Smith. Though as much as I adore Will, Geoffrey is one of my favorite characters. He gets some good lines, and the actor really pulls them off.

If you remember, the Warblers sang it in Breadstix during the Season 2 Valentine's Day episode of Glee. I think it would be really cool if you added this every now and then to the Friday lineup, since you liked it so much! The early eps are REALLY good and also you have all the Dark-Skin Viv that you need! Of course, this is just a one-off, but in case you wanted to continue!
