I've always been confused about the TaoElle date weirdness too. I'm guessing I don't understand it due to being aroace but it IS weird that Elle’s issue is that Tao put an effort in. Other than fixing his atrocious haircut, all he did was put on a nice shirt and picked a film she liked. He was otherwise exactly the same Tao, right down to critiquing the film. She wanted same old Tao and she got it but she was still upset? I think Tao got upset because he could sense she didn't have a great time, the hand holding was awkward at the cinema and then he just got jealous that she invited her new besties to the party. I don't know what's happening but I'm Team Tao on this one. This seemed like an unnecessary drama - the first in Heartstopper and I hope the last. There was a cut scene that showed David being a dick to Nick right before the party that probably didn't help his headache. Tori was just being a scary forest tent witch and it's weird but I'll stan her anyway. At this point, with all the lovey dovey looks and smiles and hugs Narlie share VERY publicly, I don't know why there's a need for Nick to come out at all 🤣🤣

2024-08-03 18:34:58 +0000 UTCThe thing about Heartstopper is that it switches the usual narrative of the token gay bestie. Here we have the token straight bestie - Tao. Everyone else is queer. Which, to me, is more realistic unless you're the kind of person who doesn't like hanging out with anyone who isn't straight. People are more often a mixed bag. I like that this show depicts that. Sexuality and gender is just INCREDIBLY varied. We also have Elle, by the way, who is queer because she's trans but her sexuality is (as far as we know) straight since she likes Tao. And, from what we've seen so far, Imogen/Ingrid 🤭 3 whole token straight friends. We don't even get that many token gays in a regular cis show.
