Good afternoon, moon babes. So today I wanted to share with you guys a recipe for something that I gave Luna over the weekend. And it was something that I should have thought of much, much sooner. I'm kind of kicking myself that I didn't do this sooner.
Some of you might know I just moved and I've had my familiar Luna for five years now, every single time that I've moved with her, it's a very stressful situation. She's a scaredy cat like she is literally the definition of a scaredy cat.
This is now our fourth move with her and every single time she moves, it's the same so I kind of know what to expect. I always keep her in a confined room with all of her toys and some things from me so she's calm. I get everything I need to keep her in her crate for a little bit to get her to calm down.
She hung out in my room for the first week but pretty much hid all day. And then at night, she would come out and start to explore but then really she would just cry for like eight hours straight. I don't know if this is a calico thing, but she does not meow loudly, it's more like a Meep. It's very not loud, but to hear her crying just makes me sad.
By night six, I couldn't sleep. I was losing my mind and I was up researching herbs for cats that would calm them down. I decided to go make it for her and within four or five minutes she calmed down.
I got a bunch of messages from you guys on my Instagram when I showed the little bag and you asked what the mix was. This is specifically for cats so let me go ahead and say that this isn't going to work for dogs and you absolutely need to double-check herbs safe for dogs.
What You'll Need
- Catnip
- Valerian
Valerian is amazing. I think it's the biggest thing in this that made her calm down. However, I do not like the smell of it. It is kind of stinky, and your whole room and your cat will smell like valerian.
The Lemon balm and Chamomile are also amazing. This mix is also really good for people to drink as a sleep tea, but it probably wouldn't be as flavorful. I would put peppermint and lavender for the scent and smell and for humans.
What to Do
- I put this together as a dried herbal bag. I put it in a sachet or organza bag. I literally used a blue sachet for color magick. When I gave this to Luna, she either just gets a little bit playful or she will calm her down. She's just happy and likes it rubs her face, or play with it for like four or five minutes and then just lays down.
- Double check with your vet about the organza bag if your cat tends to eat and chew. Luna doesn't chew them up. If you do see them trying to chew like literally chew through it. Take the bag from them. Just like anything, you don't want your animal ingesting something they shouldn't but the herbs are okay for her to eat.
- When you sit down with all of these herbs, I did ask my ancestors to aid in the calming down of Luna because she is my familiar. Even if your animal isn't your familiar, you could still ask your ancestors, you could ask the spirits of the land. You could ask literally just the spirit of the herbs to please aid in calming your animal down. It makes sure you activate every single herb before you put it into your sachet.
- Combine everything and pray over it once you've added everything. When all herbs are added, tie it. I like to do a little bit of a knot magick. I tied the knot three times and prayed to Luna's spirit that this works!
Luna absolutely loved it. So I hope you guys try this out. This is also probably would be a really great thing to travel with them if they're anxious travelers or if they're going to go to the vet. It's really easy to put them in the container with this little sachet because it's just a little charm bag with herbs in it.
I made quite a bit because I wanted to be able to break it up into a few days for her so I made like enough for a week but realistically the one bag would have been enough. So hope that works for you guys.
Hope you guys love it. Talk to you soon.
Let me know if you try it! I don't know if you can add pictures to the comments but if you can, please put pictures of your pets I would love to see them. I love a cat pic.
Blessed be, Anastasia ๐ค๐ฎ๐
