I hate when people say that someone will never change based on something they did in the past. Elena is a dumb a** if you think a current event can make a person change, something they did so far in the past has no effect on current character growth! I feel like Stefan wanted Alaric and Elena to hold off on following upbabout Isobel is because he was hoping Damon would do something to self destruct and drive a wedge between him and Elena. Because unlike Stefan who had to stalk and emotionally manipulate Elena, Damon and Elena are growing close and bonding naturally.

2024-09-23 20:14:10 +0000 UTCThe ring that Alaric has is not the same as Damon and Stefan have. Their rings are just daylight rings, it makes them able to walk in the sun without burning up. That’s really it, it doesn’t protect them from death, from being staked etc.

2024-08-27 08:33:40 +0000 UTCWell, Isabel does suck, but, to be fair, she was a teenager when she gave up Elena. She gave up Elena because she wasn’t going to be able to support her life. And then she moved on with her life, met Alaric, and got married, etc. Which is a completely fine thing to do, as, and this is going to sound harsh, you technically have no obligation to the child that you gave up. You certainly don’t have any legal rights. She only started researching mystic falls well into her 20’s, and got super excited by the possibility of a vamp life. She didn’t tell Alaric because it would have hurt his feelings lol She really didn’t want to be with him anymore, which was made clear by the fact that she had sex with Damon and begged him to turn her. She had no intention to return to Ric after she was turned into a vampire. She had no intention of returning to her prior life at all after being turned into a vampire which is why she compelled a human to tell Elena to stop looking for her. Also, I think what might be helpful is to stop thinking about Alaric’s ring as the same kind of ring that Damon and Stefan have. It’s a different thing entirely.
