i love lorelai with my entire heart, and i always will. i wasn’t a huge fan of her reaction to rory applying to other schools just because of how it may have come across to rory, but i know it’s not as simple as her not wanting rory to apply to other places. as much as i adore her, she is a flawed human being who sometimes acts on emotion and not logic, especially when you factor in the real trauma she has from her upbringing. her brain literally goes into panic mode when she feels like richard and emily even put a foot in the door when it comes to her life with rory. whether it’s justified or not, she always assumes the worst about their intentions. usually, she’s right, and i actually think she is right about richard’s intentions here—he doesn’t care about rory having backups, he just wants her to go to yale. i just wish she could learn to take a deep breath and calm herself down a little bit sometimes. she’ll always be rory’s mother and she should always have a say before her grandparents. i actually think letting them feel like they have more of a say instead of blowing up immediately could benefit her because they will be less sneaky.

Lorelai had the right reaction last episode but this episode was way too much. Obviously Rory needs to apply to more than one school. There's not a single guarantee she'll get into Harvard. If she doesn't get in and she didn't apply into any other schools what will she do? Wait around for a year and apply again next time?
