It's a mix between religious (Catholics and Protestants) conflict and political (nationalist / republicans and democratic rebels) conflict. The Troubles took place from 1968-1998. I believe this show starts in '94, so it's the tail end of the Troubles. You may be familiar with Bloody Sunday. That happened in Derry in 1972 and was a massacre of civil rights protestors by the British regiment stationed there. Love your reactions!
