hope you guys watch the second season :) I love the fight between Ekko and Jinx in this episode, and it hurts more after watching them in s2 :')

This is technically my 5th rewatch and I never realized how often Jinx hums that tune from the first episode, the intro. If y'all are nerds about music scores and moteifs, this show is FULL of them. But the fight songs (Misfit Toys from the beginning and Dynasties and Dystopias from the duel scene) the stayyy on my favorite playlists.

2025-05-26 13:27:21 +0000 UTCEkko and Jinx’s fight is one of my favourite pieces of animation. You learn so much about them despite never seeing them interact as kids in the first act. You see how Ekko has grown and changed whilst Jinx is still trapped in the same cycle. They both lost everyone and you can figure what would have happened from how adamant Ekko is that Powder is gone but the second he glimpses her he pauses and I’ve never seen a better representation of ‘his eyes softened.’ It’s just so good how they do it all in such a short amount of time.

2025-05-25 20:56:51 +0000 UTCEkko, the absolute GOAT, the boy savior!!!! Ugh, while I HATE seeing Ekko and Powder fight, that sequence was MASTERFULLY done to show how close they used to be. Ekko remembering the patterns of Powder's shooting to fight Jinx and Jinx choosing to take herself out with Ekko...it's heartbreaking. Also I adore the writing on everyone because you can easily see how everyone's thinking is justified to THEMSELVES. Even Silco, as "evil" as he seems, sees himself as a revolutionary trying to fight for his people by any means necessary. No one is truly all bad or all good. (Well MAYBE Ekko is truly all good. He IS the boy savior. ❤️)

2025-05-25 17:48:04 +0000 UTCEvery character design is so dynamic and cool, but honestly I think Ekko's is one of my favs - his hair is such a contrast to the rest of his colour scheme and his face/war paint has a really cool significance if you watch the later eps/seasons - he's so cool!
