Thanks for the suggestion! I have however setup two VMs (VPS) with a local provider where I intend to serve the APKs from. The AWS setup was only an interim solution until that was in place. I still need to configure the redundancy and load balancing but I hope to have that in place before I make the next release so that packages can be provided from the permanent URL instead!

Yes this is possible, you can for example enable the "All games" collection and then from the gamelist options menu in the gamelist view select "Filter gamelist". You can then enter a game name or a partial game name to filter on. Then you can add these games to a custom collection if you want to.

No Yuzu support is removed in the next release, you will no longer be able to launch Switch games from inside ES-DE with that emulator. Its configuration has been completely removed. You can still add any emulator you want to ES-DE using a custom system configuration entry but that's in no way specific to Yuzu but general functionality.

Interesting idea, I've never heard about that before. Not sure how to do accurate scraping using a web search engine though. To clarify, ES-DE uses a lot of specific media types like screenshots, title screens, box covers, box back covers, physical media etc, a web search engine would not provide any accurate way of selecting the correct image. So this is probably something that needs to be handled manually.

The reason why I’m asking is because during my first scrape a lot of media got missed due to incorrect names and/or metadata. Maybe your RP2+ is running Android 9? That is not supported by ES-DE, 64-bit Android 11 or later is required although I'm working on adding Android 10 support as well. But maybe you could upgrade the device to a newer Android version?

Thanks for this! It's easily the best front-end for Android, and I've used them ALL, trust me. Nothing on Android matched the experience on my Batocera-ized Mac mini or one of the (way too many, just ask my wife) Linux Chinese handhelds currently languishing in my electronics drawer. I've literally wondered for years if Emulation Station was possible, and here it is! Obviously a lot of work has gone into this, and I know the work continues - I'm in for the long-haul, or until my Android "game thingy" dies (don't worry, I'll get another one, just ask my wife). 🙂

You can enable the Android soft keyboard by disabling the "Enable virtual keyboard" setting in the UI Settings menu. But note that there is a bug in the SDL library that causes rendering issues if combining this setting with controller input. Still you should be able to temporarily enable it while you are updating your metadata and then enable it again and restart ES-DE to resolve the rendering problems (like a green border around the screen).

Is there another way to input game description in metadata like copy and paste text? Its a hassle if I input manually in ES-DE app using the virtual keyboard, it will take me hours on typing. I manually created my own metadata of psvita games and the only I am missing is the game descriptions.

If you want to add vita3k games in ES-DE create a gametitle.psvita file in ROMs/psvita then open the created .psvita file using text editor and input the game ID of your game and save. Then open ES-DE and scan to update the list of games, vita games should be visible now. Example: Game title: Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana Game ID: PCSE01103 The file should look like this "Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana.psvita"

I have the ayn odin pro 2 build. And I love using your app however adding in ps vita games is a bit of a pain I can see the ps vita on es-de but it won't run the games. I have psvita3k app also installed and if I use that app instead of es-de it works. Can we get a vita running on es-de? Thanks for letting me know of the solution to the PPSSPP problem. As for scraping that may very well be the case as ScreenScraper is not 100% complete, some games are not yet in their database. And sometimes they are there but your game file is not named correctly so a valid result is not returned.

PPSSPP works fine now, what I am doing wrong earlier was pressing the Load button at the top right side of the main menu of ppsspp, the correct way is pressing Browse button with folder icon on top middle of screen and press "USE THIS FOLDER" inside 0/ROMs/psp folder to use as default psp rom folder.

It's complicated on Android, you would need to study the manifest of the app, and I had to go through the source code as well for a number of emulators to figure out how they parsed extras and such. There are no paths and no command line arguments on Android, the Intent API is used to launch all apps. No this is not possible, I use the directory picker facilities provided by Android and Google has decided that you are not allowed to select the root of a storage device.

There is a easy fix glitch on rg405m. When on set up on select permissions, permissions will already be clicked to accept. Then if you go on it gets stuck on white screen seemingly will not go on. But if you start over and unclick the permissions then hit back go to the accept permission screen click to accept you can finish set up. I heard some people were getting stuck on setup on this device so I bought it to see if I could work it out. This worked for me

Nethersx2 and Duckstation works now, the problem is I moved the roms so the stand alone emulators don't know where the roms are, to fix that I need to add the updated scanning directories to es-de ROMs folder and it worked (Thanks to Retro Game Corps Video). My remaining problem is I did the same thing to PPSSPP but it still not working, btw I'm using PPSSPP from buildbot site, not from google playstore.

Check your bios and make sure they are set up properly. You may have to reinstall the bios files for the PlayStation

I can't make nethersx2, ppsspp, duckstation work, only blackscreen, the roms are in the right folder in ROMs folder. SNES, NDS, GBA, Sega Saturn, NSwitch are working fine. UPDATE Nethersx2/Duckstation/PPSSPP works now One last minor problem is PSVita games works but scraper can't give me videos and images for previews.

How would this work on android though? Like what would we set the emulator path to? I'm assuming just the name of the android package? "com.name.name" as an example? es_systems.xml doesn't exists on Android, so we just have to make our own in Custom Systems.. the issue is just not having a reference to go off of

1) Yes I plan to add support for launching native Android apps and games but I can't say yet when this will be implemented. 2) I don't like the idea of killing emulators from the frontend, I know Daijishou has functionality for this but I don't agree with this approach. It's better to always get in the habit of exiting your games/emulators completely.

They are not up to date and have caused a lot of issues for many people and the version from the RetroArch website has consistently fixed such issues. This is something else, and it seems like most projects are dropping support for Yuzu now after what has happened. This emulator is simply too toxic at the moment. It's sad that it has come to this but it is what it is. You can still easily add it back in ES-DE if you want to, using a custom system configuration entry.

This is a great app and the experience is exactly the same as I get on my Linux emulation station hand helds. I've seen issues when attempting to start games on the standalone apps: mupen64FZpro, drastic and PPSSPP. However, everything else works and I'm able to launch dolphinMMJ, AetherSX2, Duckstation and CitraMMJ.

I did notice as I was messing around that a few I tested of the 2003plus roms that only booted under 2003nonplus also boot under 2010 which is listed already as an alternate core. Yes you need to completely uninstall the Amazon Appstore version before installing the Patreon version. This is a one-off thing, for future releases you'll be able to just install the new version on top of the old one.

I have setup a listmonk server and it does work, I just need to export the member list from Patreon and feed it into the server. But sending double emails to everyone is probably not the nicest thing to do. There is almost a month still to go before anyone loses access.

read that...so yeahhh not ACTUALLY supported. Drag. I am NOT the only person for which this is a fairly deal breaking issue. Cant see why I can point the PSX folder to grab games from wherever I have them. Not an issue with other frontends on Android.

Works perfectly on my retroid plus 3 but on my Odin 2 pro redream will not open Dreamcast games I have to use fly cast. Not a big deal but thought I would make it known if you did not read about that bug yet. Thank you for your work

LOVE the frontend...really REALLY wish I could access games NOT stored in the default ROMS folder...allll my psx and saturn are on my Odin 2 hard drive...so they dont even show up which then mandates me crawling back to Daijisho for those. PLEASE help!

No it's how Android works essentially, the activity lifecycle concept. You don't want apps to keep running and drain your battery when they are not actively displayed. But ES-DE should keep your screen awake unless there is some setting in Android I'm not aware of that can still force the OS to lock it. You could also scrape on Linux, macOS or Windows, ES-DE works on all these platforms and the file structure and such is identical for your media and gamelist info.

Yes I think so too, so I don't think I need to send out a lot of emails right now after all as Patreon already did that for me. What I'll do after the one month is to send out emails outside Patreon to everyone that paid once. There is a "last charge" date column that I may be able to use when exporting the list of members. I'll figure it out somehow.
