I know that I'm going to sound "old" but... it seems to me that after raising several people from infancy to adulthood and comparing my own journey to adulthood. Young females seem to want to rush the "I'm an adult now and I want a relationship" thing far faster than males who generally just "want the sex" and maybe the possessiveness of exclusivity. So that they can hit it when they want it.
