I love this series and hope that there'll be more. I would say that Miss Sophia really doesn't need to resort to blackmail, the trance is more than powerful enough to ensure compliance (but, yes, I know there are plenty who enjoy the thought of being blackmailed and I certainly don't want to deny them that frisson).
