Which version of 158 do you prefer?

MT 158 - System Addendum #4 has had 2 versions released today simultaneously.

One version (Unrated) contains highly graphic descriptions of violence, going beyond what has been seen so far in the series.

The other version (Theatrical) contains descriptions of violence that are more in line with what has appeared in the series.

There are notes at the top of each post with additional details.

Please let us know which version you prefer or think is more appropriate.

You know...when I first came here I expected more of what this latest chapter had. So I appreciate thr effort.

Jericho Rising

Definitely prefer theatrical, im not reading for the gore, sure our MC gets torn up a lot but i think the current theatrical style fits better and has enough detail about the various injuries without reading like a horror movie/gore for gores sake

Like the few people before me have said, both are good, theatrical is much more inline with how you have presented a lot of the story so far. There are exceptions of course. Arlo getting shot in the head etc. I guess the question is, does it fit the narrative better to be a jarring pov shift. What it's like to be a civilian in a world that is being terrorized by proto gods, and we can truly experience the horror of that. Or are you more just trying to set the tone, have it be a little darker, in preparation for Arlo and friends activating phase 2 of the system.

Tim Johnson

I think that the unrated version is good, but that it differs a lot from your usual writing style. Personally, I find the eye rolling to fix Jovi to be too dramatic, in a way that it feels too targeted for the audience, but I tend to fixate on tiny details. I'd maybe replace "pat pat pat" with "pitter patter" in the scene where Jovi is facing the monster. Thanks for the chapter!

I think the unrated is a little much for how the series has been presented, but I think it also does a much better job of presenting the horror of such an event. I think the theatrical version should be more detailed, or at least more 'anatomical' in its descriptions so as to better portray the horror the PoV character experiences.

Brandon Yarberry

Given how you've been handling violence so far, the unrated descriptions feel out of place. Unless the idea is that you're trying to show a truly different perspective and tone, I say the theatrical fits better.
