Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast or Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy

The upcoming Dr. Beef port of OpenJK, JKQuest will support both Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy. However we won't be releasing them together so a decision must be made on which one to bring out first.

This is the advantage of having an active Discord. We can interact directly with the biggest fans of the ports and cater to what you guys would like to see.

Here's a little bit of info on each choice:

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
Chronologically the earlier game and first released in 2002. The single-player campaign, set in the fictional Star Wars expanded universe two years after the Mysteries of the Sith expansion for Dark Forces II, follows returning protagonist Kyle Katarn, a mercenary working for the New Republic and former Jedi who cut his connection to the Force.

It has a 89/100 rating on metacritic. Reviews tend to agree that it was a fantastic game with a great story, but criticised a slow start and too much puzzle solving. You only get Jedi powers and a light sabers later into the game.

Other relevant facts is that it has less mod support than JK3.

Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy

2003 sequel to 2002's Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and the fourth and final installment in the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series. The single-player story, set in the fictional Star Wars expanded universe two years after Jedi Outcast, follows Jaden Korr, a new student at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy under the tutelage of the previous games' protagonist, Kyle Katarn.

The game was the lesser well-received of the two with a 81/100 score on Metacritic. It was praised for giving the light saber from the start. The story and mission structure did not receive such high praise, although the level design itself is widely regarded as better.

Other relevant facts is that it has many more mods available.

To be clear, both game will be eventually supported, this is just a vote on which is released first.

Place your votes wisely young Padawan's. the balance of the force depends on it!

It's a close one for me, I do agree that Outcast is first therefore it should be played first, but for me, I've already played it and remember it well(not in vr of course). Academy is the only one I would replay again and again because of its level design. It has more variation, and it's just a more exciting and bigger budget game. Voice acting, options, and environments are just all superior for me personally. This made me think,, vehicles in first person? lol that would be an awesome option for the hardcore

Outcast it is. Better story and atmosphere in my opinion.

Same here! I haven't played these in ages and would prefer to go through the story in order once I can in VR.

Outcast came first, so I'd like to replay it first. This is the long and short of my argument. :)

Academy for selfish reasons - I've only played a little of it, while I beat Jedi Outcast back in the day and every time I try to pick it up again, I get bored in the first few levels. (but og Dark Forces is the best of the series :D)

Always academy lol
