Team Beef Patreon Sept / Oct Summary

The Patreon is getting a bit more attention so I thought it was worth summarising what's available, how things work and the plan going forward. This is a public post so non-patrons can see what they can expect if joining.

JKQuest

The Quest port of the OpenJK engine has its first early access in-development version available. This first in-development release features the official showcase demo mission, where Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors investigate an imperial remnant outpost on Alzoc III, the Talz home planet. It is not currently possible to play the full Jedi Outcast game, although this will be coming once over the next weeks / months once we have found and solved some game-breaking bugs.

If you are unfamiliar with our ports, you do require the full purchased version of Jedi Outcast (and later Jedi Academy) to play the full games. The assets from your installed version must be moved across to the Quest once the engine is installed.

Once the port is finished this will be released publicly for free (and the code is released as Open Source). We don't have a firm ETA on this as yet as there is still a lot to do, but we've tentatively said sometime in the Winter of 2022/2023

Patrons also have access to current and upcoming development blogs, where we produce text, image and video showing what we are currently working on.

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin

The Quest port of the customised DarkPlaces engine has a development version available for download for mid-tiers and up. This must be paired with a legally obtained version of the full game. Once installed the assets can be copied across via Sidequest. The game is playable, but with quite a few bugs, which again are being worked out over the coming weeks. The full game itself is still in Early Access on steam and expected to release in Spring 2023. At the very least we hope to have a full public release of our VR port ready for dropping at the same time. This is a slight unknown as we don't know how much of the game engine will change. regardless we will be continuing to improve what is there and gather feedback from our patrons.

Again development updates are published for all patrons.

BendyVR (Bendy and the Ink Machine PCVR PORT)

The next early access version to drop will be BendyVR during October.  This is a PCVR port and should work on all PCVR headsets (Valve Index / Vive / Rift S / etc). It will not work natively Quest (AirLink / Link Cable needed to play on PC). You will require the full Bendy and the Ink Machine game (ideally on Steam) to play.

As above it is in active development and development updates and incremental versions will be posted as progress is made.

The Future

The Team is focused on these 3 ports at the moment. When these are finished we will share future plans (and hold votes on what could come next) with patrons.

A massive thank you upfront for anyone that chooses to join to get a look behind the scenes.
