Apologies for the tardiness of this post, we've been working on getting the first big patch for JKXR out so this update was delayed a little. That should be out very soon and is worth the wait; a lot of fixes and improvements.
Meanwhile the results of the PCVR vote are in. Below shows a percentage of how many of the people who voted included a vote for each one (I.e. 10% means 10% of the people who voted, voted for this game):
Dark Forces 1-2 / Outlaws - 28.10%
JKXR (Jedi Knight 2 / 3) PCVR Port - 25.24%
Quake 4 PCVR Port - 19.04%
Amnesia: The Dark Descent 13.34%
Freespace 2 - 11.42%
LithTech (Fear, NOLF 1 /2, TRON 2.0) 10.48%
Dusk 9.52%
Return to Castle Wolfenstein 8.58%
Cloudpunk - 8.10%
Void Bastards - 7.62%
Arx Fatalis 7.62%
Prodeus 7.14%
Bendy and the Dark revival 6.66%
Superluminal 6.66%
Mortuary Assistant 3.80%
Gloomwood 3.34%
The Room 4: Old Sins 2.86%
JazzPunk 2.38%
Blood West 2.38%
(The rest received less than 2% of the vote and aren't included for brevity).
A PCVR port of JKXR was no surprise to us, we think a lot of people may want to play it with graphical enhancements and texture upscale mods. However we were surprised that the first two games of the series (Star Wars: Dark Forces and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2) got slightly more votes overall.
Now we need to be a little fair here and make a presumption that there is a natural bias in our patrons of people who probably joined to play standalone JKXR and perhaps want to see something new (that may also make its way to standalone at some point). We don't want to get draconian and start labeling people as certain types of users (PCVR / Standalone) and having weighted votes. We also don't want to ignore the voting.
Therefore I think the best thing we can do is to plan in the top 3 results (Dark Forces 1 / 2, JKXR and Quake 4) as things we will be working on for PCVR. Which order they are actually released we'll leave open at the moment, especially since something like a Dark Forces 2 port will take longer than a conversion of something we've already done. We're also considering the Unity games as a little different, so I wouldn't be surprised if during a break one of those (Dusk / Cloudpunk) turns up as a palette cleanser for the team from writing native code.
We'll be running another vote again once the above projects comes to fruition as the landscape of what is possible and the difficulty involved does change. There are a couple of secret projects we may talk about later on in the year as well. As always Team Beef are very busy!
