He wants to watch and know peoples stories and Ender is offering him to see some of the story of one the first strongest cultivators. I don't think it is something explicitly to make him stronger, but instead something he would just like because of who he is. of course its always possible that it could make him stronger, but even if he got some insight, we have seen he will use it in his own way or not at all. Ryun basically suffered from focus madness to an insane degree back on earth, he is probably well suited to resist another's

Putting aside the risk of the madness destabilizing Ryun, any insights he gets from the mad cultivator's cultivation would be someone else's insight, not his own. When he shared his insights with Anrosh to help her advance to Immortal (and thank goodness he did!) it was clear that doing so would cripple her ability to advance on her own. This seems like a bad thing for Ryun to risk.
