Dev Update (11/04/2024)

Hi!

Here's a quick dev update and what has been implemented in the past few days.

New Settings Options

Here's few of those new DOF options:

"Inspect DOF" (Background blurred)

"Aim DOF" (Rear weapon / rear sight blurred)

"Aim DOF" (Rear weapon / rear sight blurred)

ps. Those DOF options are totally optional, some like those, some don't even though they add quite a bit of realism to weapon handling and aiming. That aim example also looks way too blurred in this post, the front sight is totally clear and visible in-game.

Personally I'm most likely only going to use UI, Scope and Inspect DOF unless doing some "realism runs" sometimes with that Aim DOF :)

28 hours in so far and I absolutely love this demo. Finally getting a solid setup going in my attic hideout. Fantastic work!

Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Thanks for the Answer, i'll let the Community know :)

Expanding the maps is an iterative process, one of most common "beginner mistakes" in gamedev is to feature creep yourself with either mechanics or game art. Making large levels is one of those risky topics that can spiral out of control really easily since: Bigger level = More optimization work Bigger level = More AI work Bigger level = More collision bugs etc. So it's a professional move to scale those up when the time is right and in a way that won't hurt the current development pace.

Can't wait to play with the updates this weekend!

To add this topic, I have already made some preparations to acquire bunch of old used GPU's with fairly low price but that process is still a bit tricky in terms of time management and there's a new Godot version coming up really soon, so it's not wise to spend numerous of hours trying to solve something that could be solved "automatically" within short period of time with that engine update. If that upcoming Godot update won't fix these issues then I will fix them myself of course and purchase those GPU's before the commercial phase :)

Those problems cannot be solved unless I have the specific "problem" hardware available, otherwise it would be really tricky "blind problem solving" which could turn into big time sink and hurt the current development pace. In other words, I need to have those GPU's available for debugging and that's quite a big investment to buy numerous of different GPU's, so it's not viable at this stage. I will buy those GPU's and make a dedicated hardware test bench before the commercial versions (early access). Based on my notes there's around 4-5 different GPU's that would need that debugging process (mostly AMD).

Were you able to solve the problem with the 5x Radeon graphics cards?

Good additions, everything is shaping up nicely. I've had quite abit of time with demo 2 now and have been enjoying it alot, my only gripe is that the maps are quite small, it detracts abit from the sense of exploration/immersion in my opinion, its not a dealbreaker by any means but if there was a way to make the maps about 4 or 5 times as big as the current maps I think it would help alot. Just a suggestion anyway, no idea if its viable or not of course.

The return of context menus!!! We are so back!!!!

Fonzi

awesome changes! are you considering adding holding to load bolt guns and shotguns instead of individual clicking in the next build?

Dani

Nice job looking forward to the next patch
